Aloha Future SUPer Board Head,

Congratulations on your decision to learn to Stand up Paddle. Stand Up Paddling is an exciting and personally challenging sport in which you can participate for many years to come. Stand Up Paddling is a very accessible sport suitable for all ages and abilities of outdoor sports enthusiasts. You will find that you can push your personal limits on both flat water, waves and on white water river rapids or you can simply relax and cruise on and see the sights from a different perspective. It is a sport that will offer you a lifetime of learning, personal challenge, camaraderie and fun. Paddlers come in all shapes, sizes and ages from 8 to 80+. SUPing does not require a great deal of strength, especially when you learn and apply proper techniques. Stand Up Paddling is actually well over 1000 years old and is now the fastest growing water sport in the world. It offers you a great work out and a fun way to tour lakes, rivers, oceans & virtually any aquatic environment. I’ll teach you the all the basics and more in this fun and challenging course. After that I encourage you to continue having fun and challenging yourself by getting out and paddling regularly. I also hope you will help me build our paddling community by telling your friends about this course. Most importantly, I guarantee that you’ll have fun and learn to be safe while paddling!

 

Stand Up Paddling Course Tuition & Equipment Rental

$75.00 per student for Intro group lessons (3 to 8 students max.)

$95.00 per student for private lessons (Undivided attention for 1 or 2 students)

$95.00 per student for half day at lake

Note- Your tuition includes equipment rental for the course.

 

Stand Up Paddling Course Details

Intro to SUP course- 1 hour lesson and 1 hour free paddling on Rio Grande in Albuquerque/Bernalillo

SUP classes are a ½ day program (about 4 hours). A sample schedule is:

8:30 – 10:00                                                    Meet up, final registration, then drive to river or lake.

10:00 – 1:00                                                    Beach and On-water training and practice, then float the rio

or tour the lake and practice strokes, turning, etc.

 

In this introductory course you will learn:

Basic water safety

Environmental considerations (Where will you paddle? And Conservation)

Equipment styles and terminology

Basic paddling techniques

 

Disclaimer

Windsurfing & Stand Up Paddling are “get-wet” sports. Both sports require that you are able to swim competently and that you feel comfortable in, around, and under the water. You must also be able to lift approximately 10-30 lbs (to carry the equipment and to lift the sail from the water). You Must have a stoked, positive attitude and be ready to learn and most of all have fun.

The Two Primary Rules are: BE SAFE and Keep Smiling and Enjoy Yourself!
